How to install and set up MemoryPlugin with your AI assistant
This guide will walk you through the process of installing and setting up MemoryPlugin for your preferred AI platform. Follow these steps to give your AI assistant a long-term memory.
Step 1: Create a MemoryPlugin Account
Before you can use MemoryPlugin, you'll need to create an account:
- Visit www.memoryplugin.com
- Click on "Sign Up" or "Get Started"
- Enter your email address and create a password (or sign up with Google)
- Verify your email address if required
Step 2: Choose Your Installation Method
MemoryPlugin offers multiple ways to integrate with your AI assistant. Choose the one that best fits your needs:
Browser Extension (Recommended for most users)
The browser extension works with Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, LibreChat, and other web-based AI interfaces:
- Go to the Chrome Web Store or TestFlight if you are on iOS or macOS Safari
- Click "Add to Chrome" (works with Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers) or "Install" if you are using the TestFlight version
- After installation, click on the MemoryPlugin icon in your browser toolbar
- Sign in with your MemoryPlugin account credentials
ChatGPT Plugin
For ChatGPT users who want to use MemoryPlugin directly within ChatGPT as a custom GPT:
- Log in to your MemoryPlugin dashboard at www.memoryplugin.com/dashboard
- Click on the "Install ChatGPT Plugin" button (works on web, desktop, and mobile)
- Follow the instructions to add MemoryPlugin to your ChatGPT account
TypingMind Plugin
For TypingMind Premium users:
- Log in to your MemoryPlugin dashboard at www.memoryplugin.com/dashboard
- Click on the "Install TypingMind Plugin" button
- Follow the instructions to add MemoryPlugin to your TypingMind account

MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server
For users who want to use MemoryPlugin with chat clients that support MCP (Like Claude Desktop, Sage, and others):
- Log in to your MemoryPlugin dashboard at www.memoryplugin.com/dashboard
- Click on the "Install MCP Server" button
- Follow the instructions in the link to install the MCP server
Step 3: Connect to Your AI Platform
After installation, you need to connect MemoryPlugin to your preferred AI platform:
For Browser Extension Users:
- Navigate to your preferred AI platform (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.)
- Start a new conversation
- You should see the MemoryPlugin icon in the interface
- Click the icon and select "Quick Inject" if prompted, or click on the small MemoryPlugin icon near the input field to activate MemoryPlugin for that conversation
For API Users:
- Retrieve your API key from your MemoryPlugin dashboard
- Follow the API integration documentation to connect MemoryPlugin to your application
Tip: After installation, try starting a conversation with your AI assistant and say something like "Let's remember that my name is [Your Name] and I work as a [Your Profession]." Your AI should confirm that it has saved this information to your long-term memory.
Step 4: Verify Your Installation
To make sure MemoryPlugin is working correctly:
- Start a conversation with your AI assistant
- Ask the AI to remember something specific about you
- End the conversation and start a new session
- Ask about the information you provided earlier
- The AI should recall the information from your previous conversation
